First Day of School!

Day 1 - Blogging and Homeschooling

Autzen

Today is Autzen's first day of 7th grade! He was focused and engaged for all of his lessons.  He switched to the dining room table so that when he's in a meeting the wall is behind him.  I thought this made a lot of sense.  He had a couple tech snafus, but otherwise it went well.

Barrett

Barrett and I are following our preschool schedule for the first time today! So, I guess today is Barrett's first day of preschool!

We're focused on BLUE this week.  I want to figure out the best way for us to document his progress.  I gave him a camera today but adding pictures from there isn't as fast.  I'll have to play around with that.

We spent today reading: JamBerry. This is one of my favorite board books! We read the book once, straight through, and then read it again and I asked him questions about the story and the pictures.

We found blue blocks today! We also sorted blocks that were round and square.

These beads were really cheap and so versatile! After he played with them independently while I cooked dinner we sorted circles and squares.  If he made a mistake we couldn't put it away.

General Musings

Today we learned that the house is officially closing on the 17th (Ok, we actually learned this late last night)! This means that we have 17 days to be completely out. Nothing we can't handle! We are amping up to make the move. Starting on Thursday I will be packing up our van and hauling things (plus the children) to Hood River!

  1. I love the bead sorting activity! Where did you find them. I'm curious to check out the book you mentioned. Also I love Autzen's sensibility 💜

    1. The beads are from the Target dollar area! I tie one bead at the bottom for him so they don't slip off. Isn't Autzen the best! I love that guy!
